CHCH-TV and 1150 CKOC Enter Broadcast Partnership for region’s leading newscast, the CHCH Evening News at 6PM, Monday-Friday
December 8, 2025 – CHCH-TV and 1150 CKOC are excited to announce a partnership that brings more local news to radio listeners in the Hamilton, Halton, Brantford and Niagara regions. As of Monday, December 8, the CHCH Evening News at 6PM will be carried live on 1150 CKOC each and every weekday. The program will be aired in its entirety for the radio audience, in simulcast with the CHCH-TV live TV broadcast originating from its studios in Hamilton at 6PM daily.
“We’re thrilled to distribute our news to an even wider audience in our community,” said Greg O’Brien, News Director at CHCH-TV. “It’s important for us to reach people wherever they are, whether that’s at home, at work, or in their cars. Tapping into CKOC’s loyal radio audience is a great fit for us.”
As legacy media brands in Hamilton, ON, CHCH-TV and 1150 CKOC share many similarities. Both come from humble beginnings at the dawn of their respective technologies: CKOC in 1922, as Canadian radio was in its fledgling years; and CHCH in 1954, two years after television began taking over the airwaves in Canada. Each spent time as a CBC affiliate: CHCH in its formative years from 1954 through 1961; and CKOC from 1936 to 1962. Today, both stations look ahead to the future while paying homage to its past roots: CKOC with its recently launched “classic hits” format of the 70’s and 80’s; and CHCH with its “retro favourites” lineup of classic sitcoms and serial programs like Leave It To Beaver, The Rockford Files, The A-Team, and All in the Family. In 2026, CHCH will celebrate its 72nd anniversary, while CKOC will enter its whopping 104th year of continuous local broadcasting.
“Just as CHCH has been a trusted pillar in Hamilton media for decades, CKOC has a deep-rooted history in our community,” said Al Pervin, General Manager of CKOC 1150. “This partnership helps keep Hamilton’s local media strong and thriving.”
